Terrain & Ecosystem: Volcanic highland landscape built around three extinct volcanoes — Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo — with vegetation zones ranging from montane forest to bamboo, moorland, and afro-alpine scrub near the summits.
Wildlife: One habituated mountain gorilla family (the Nyakagezi group); endangered golden monkeys; forest buffalo and elephants passing through from neighboring Virunga parks; birdlife including montane and bamboo-forest specialists.
