Following your breakfast, drive to Kibale forest National Park. Kibale, 766 km2 is one of Uganda’s enchanting, forested parks. Here you can hike in the park for hours observing the drama of life in a rain forest. The park contains pristine lowland tropical rain forest, montane forest, and mixed tropical deciduous forest. In addition to forest, you will also notice areas of grassland and of swamp. The forest is rich in wildlife. It is most noted for its primate population.
Some of these are red-tailed monkey, diademed monkey, olive baboon, chimpanzee, black and white colobus. Some of the other mammals you might see are bushbuck, Harvey’s red duiker, blue duiker, bush pig, and African civet. More difficult to spot are buffalo, waterbuck, hippo, warthog, and giant forest hog. Herds of elephant once travelled back and forth through the area. These elephants have become more and more rare, and now are seldom seen.
The birdlife in the forest and grasslands is abundant. There are almost 300 species which have been identified here. There are 144 species of butterfly in the park and a diverse population of moths and other insects. A system of trails has been developed within the park, and tour guides are available to guide visitors. O/N Kibale Forest Camp
This activity will generally take place in the morning. You will either be driven or walk down to the Kibale Forest National Parks’ headquarters to meet your guides for your morning’s chimp tracking experience. The forest is alive with noise and you should be lucky enough to see the habituated chimps during your trek. Sometimes they move quickly through the forest, other days you may be lucky enough to catch them resting, interacting, or eating near the forest floor
After your breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth Np whose wide biodiversity of habitats is so amazing - almost 100 types of mammals and 606 different birds! The Kazinga Channel alone contains the world's largest concentration of hippos, but interestingly enough not many crocodiles! —we shall arrive on time for a 2.00pm boat cruise. Go for an evening game drive through the park enjoying the rest of the wildlife like warthogs, buffalo, rare aquatic sitatunga antelope, giant forest hog, beautifully horned Uganda kob, topi, waterbuck, elephant, and leopard, to your lodge. There are no giraffe, zebra, impala or rhino. Dinner and O/N Mweya Safari Lodge.
Go for an early game drive in the park for several animals like Buffaloes, Kobs warthogs and many more. Return to the lodge for your breakfast, thereafter, drive to Ishasha region for a game drive. This region is famous for its tree climbing lions, this is a unique experience on this trip. O/N Ishasha Wilderness camp /Bullbush River Camp
Set out for the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park, rich with wildlife including warthog, water buck, bush buck, leopard, Ugandan kob, elephants, countless bird species and even the rare giant forest hog. The Ishasha sector of the park is known for its famous tree climbing lions sometimes found lying about in the branches of the native fig trees. Enjoy exploring this savannah wilderness in your safari vehicle, looking for the huge herds of buffalo, elephant, Uganda kob and of course, the famous tree-climbing lions. Seeing these mighty predators fast asleep up a fig tree, with their bellies hanging over the branches is a truly magnificent sight! O/N Ishasha jungle lodge
Early this morning as the African sun breaks out over the wilderness, venture out in your customised safari vehicle for a game drive to look for big cats, elephant, buffalo and many antelope species. The Ishasha area is rich with wildlife including warthog, waterbuck, bush buck, leopard, Ugandan Kob, elephants, hynea, countless bird species and even the rare giant forest hog. The Ishasha sector of the park is known for its famous tree climbing lions often found lying about in the branches of the native fig trees.
In the afternoon, drive to Bwindi Forest National Park. Drive time is 2-3 hours. O/N Buhoma Lodge
Following breakfast at the lodge, at 0730hrs travel to National Park Headquarters to meet your guides for the day and begin your gorilla tracking experience. Experienced guides and trackers will accompany your party on an early morning trek into the dense rain forest on the mountain slopes.
The journey, through dense foliage and up steep climbs, is abundantly rewarded with the lifetime experience of viewing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. You will have an opportunity to be within meters of these magnificent apes, sharing in their daily lives and experiencing their day-to-day activities. This morning we drive to L. Mburo National Park. This park is the unique one of all of them being a home to the beautiful Zebras, Elands and the cobs. Arrive in the evening and if you are up to it, you can go for an evening game drive in the park. O/N Mihingo Lodge/ Eagle’s Nest
Morning game drive and thereafter, proceed to Kampala and on to the airport for your flight back.
